The phenomenal possibility of drawing with light has infiltrated into my life naturally and insensibly.
In the beginning there were few portraits of family members, captured with old russian camera, which was a heritage of my grandfather. The next touch was after a few years, when the digital photography arrived; sceneries of the country in summer, various objects and landscapes.
Suddenly I have realized that my fixed images are stimulating certain sensations and are able to convey different concepts. Mainly by this possibility, endowed by the graphics of light, I will be charmed after several years, when I'll take a few hundred kilometers in the direction of East to study day and night at the universal university of self discovery.
...the books have been read and lessons were learned... Vitally important questions had found their answers, scrolls were scrolled and put on innermost shelves of my heart...
When one had ended and the new phase of light evolved, the time had come to continue the practice that I started, only now it had to be done in a different environment; and that is how I got to taste the genre of travel photography - at least that's how its usually called.
A year and a half I was wandering from country to country from city to town in a search for myself, by the route that is unknown to the rational mind. With the big smile in my lips and a true excitement in the heart I listen to the whispers of my travel diary:
"...I don't feel alone...I'm not talking about loneliness, alone and lonely are different things, I never felt alone and I don't know what it could be overall...but physically I don't feel alone...I feel... With a camera..."
I returned to my home country Lithuania carrying dozens gigabytes of images. While organizing my archive and seeing a picture that I really liked, sometimes, carefully, silent in my thoughts, I would dare to call myself a "photographer"...
My oeuvres were positively critised by the authorities and shortly I was pleasantly nicknamed "pho-to-gra-pher".
A need for more serious instruments for working with light has appeared in me toghether with creatively-directed methods for its manipulation; professional digital equipment plus classes of photography at the Kaunas Arts Institute.
...the initial instinct of capturing a moment had to be attached to the common and specific knowledge and as much actual expierence as possible. That's how it all started to progress to the professional route...
